June 2004 - GRASSES. AN INTRODUCTION
A walk near North Newbould led by
Peter who is a leading member of the South Holderness
Countryside Society and an expert on the identification of British
Grasses, so if you want to know the difference between Cocksfoot and
Foxtail then come along. Assemble at 2 pm at the Green, North Newbould.

17th July 2004 ROSEMARY'S MOTHING
At Rosemary home near North Cave
starting at about 9 pm.
Rosemary has recorded a
number of interesting moths from this site and perhaps we will see
species not normally seen around our gardens. Some of our local
Lepidopterists will be on hand to help with the identification.

August 15th. 2004 COASTAL BUS TRIP
A Coach trip to the
Flamborough area. Danes Dyke. There are still seats available as I write
at a cost of around £8. Leaving Elloughton at 8.30 am from outside the
Half Moon. We shall be accompanied on the beach by Valerie, who
recently gave us a talk on Diving around Filey Brig.
Sunday 26th
September. 2004 SMALL MAMMAL SURVEY
Gather in the Reserve at 9.30am and see
what small mammals we have.
Live traps will be set the
night before and Jon will be handling and identifying any small
beasts we find, before release.
Friday 8th
October 2004 ANCIENT PLANT REMEDIES
A very interesting and rewarding
talk to be given by Mrs Wilkinson of Walkington.
Also ... The Societies Nature
photographic competition will take place on this evening and is open to
all pictures taken by members that have not previously been entered in a
competition. Members are entitled to submit a maximum of three entries
each and they can be titled or not. The size is 5" by 7" or larger.
The Prizes will be £20, £10 and
£5 for the three places. This year every member in attendance will be
given the chance to vote for the best photographs.
The Kingfisher Trophy will be
awarded to the winner of the Competition to hold for one year and which
will be inscribed appropriately. Bring your prints on the night.

Members who have attended our
Annual Quiz have usually come back for more, we play as teams so don't
be afraid of the dreaded mental block, come and extend your circle of
friends, and please bring food for the "spread".
