Friday 7th November 2008
THE ENVIRONMENT & PHOTO COMPETITION
A talk on this very interesting subject given by Chris Toohie.
Also ... The Society’s Nature photographic competition will take place on
this evening and is open to all pictures taken by members which have not
previously been competition entries. Members are entitled to submit three
entries each, titled or not, though an identification of the subject in the
photograph would be appreciated. The size this year is open.
The Prizes will be £20, £10 and £5 for the three places. Every member in
attendance will be given the chance to vote for the best photographs.
The Kingfisher Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Competition to
hold for one year and which will be inscribed appropriately. Bring your
prints on the night.

SWANLAND WILDLIFE GROUP POT LUCK FEAST WITH
CLAIRE LANGRICK ON THE IMPORTANCE OF
COLLECTING DATA TO SAVE OUR WILDLIFE
This interesting event will take place in the Christ Church Schoolroom by
the pond and starts at 7pm. Take something for their shared feast. Tickets
are £3.50 from Tony on 668064.
Friday 5th December 2008 - SOCIETY QUIZ
NIGHT
Members who have attended our Annual Quiz have usually come back for
more. If you only manage to come to one meeting a year then this is the one
to attend. You will be made most welcome.
We play as random teams so don't be afraid of the dreaded mental block.
Come and extend your circle of friends. Please
bring food for the " Spread".

BIRDING AT NORTH CAVE WETLANDS
Mike Flowers one of our local bird watching experts will help us identify
the different species we will see at this Yorkshire Wildlife Trust site. We
start at 10am and will finish around lunchtime. There is a sandwich bar near
the entrance and we will try and get them to put on some warming sandwiches.
Wear winter woollies and stout footwear.

FRESHWATER FISH
An illustrated talk on our native fish by Dr Roger Uglow. At Welton
Memorial Hall as usual and starting at 7.30pm.

CLOUDS
A talk with slides on cloud spotting by Mark Jessop. Usual time and
venue.
Sunday 15th March 2009- WOOD WORKING
PARTY
The First Working Party of the year. The Nature Reserve at Spindlewood in
Elloughton is yours and does need your care and attention, starting at 10am
and finishing at 12 noon.
We hope to continue with our long term Bulb planting on this day. There
are sleeves to be rolled up in good company. Please Come and Help
!

WARCS BRANTINGHAM AREA TIDY UP
We shall meet in one of the Lay Bys at the side of Brantingham Dale Road.
From 10.30am to 12.30pm. Our Annual clean up of our local rights of way.
We have gloves, picking up sticks and plastic bags.

HISTORY OF THE YORKSHIRE WOODLANDS & THE A.G.M.
Ronnie Hewer is to give us this historical talk. We do as a Society
concentrate on both Natural and Local History. The talk will of course be
preceded by the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE SOCIETY.
